A suspect is in custody after a man died following a fight last year in the Sunnyslope area of north Phoenix.

Chad Petersen, 55, died on Dec. 20, 2025, a week after he was involved in a fight near 11th Avenue and Hatcher Road, police said.

A suspect left the scene of the fight before police got to the area. Detectives began investigating to find the suspect.

The investigation led to 26-year-old Dylan Bailey being identified as a possible suspect, police said.

Bailey was arrested on Feb. 3 on a murder charge. Investigators do not believe anyone else was involved, according to Phoenix Police.

Details about the fight and what led to Bailey being arrested were not immediately available.

This incident remains an active investigation.
