One person is dead after a plane crashed in Yavapai County on Wednesday.

The small Socata TB21 aircraft went down near Poquito Valley, which is north of Prescott Valley, around 8 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the crash was deadly, and only the pilot was onboard, FAA data shows. The person’s identity has not been released.

Officials said there would be a large law enforcement presence throughout the night, so residents should avoid the area.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will take over an investigation into the plane crash.
