Two people are charged after northern Arizona authorities found illegal and stolen items inside a U-Haul over the weekend.

Williams Police said an officer stopped the U-Haul for having no taillights on Interstate 40 near mile marker 165 around 2 a.m. on March 28.

The police department said officers could smell marijuana, and they identified the two people inside as driver Acie Bradford and passenger Charles Morley. Further investigation found an AR-style rifle inside the U-Haul, while both people were found to be prohibited from owning weapons.

Officers were granted a search warrant for the U-Haul and found it to be loaded with stolen property and another handgun.

Police also found methamphetamine, fentanyl-related paraphernalia, burglary tools and high-value property that was suspected to have been stolen, Williams PD said. Police seized the AR-style rifle along with a Taurus .357 revolver.

Investigators say Morley admitted he swallowed fentanyl pills during the stop. He was given Narcan and taken to a hospital in Flagstaff for treatment. Williams Police said the suspects have long criminal histories, and Bradford is on probation for an armed robbery in Georgia.

The two suspects were booked into the Coconino County Jail for charges of drug offenses, prohibited possession of firearms and possession of burglary tools. Booking photos were not immediately available.

This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Williams Police Detective Hanslik at (928)635-4461.
